Problem : The macerator on a toilet will not work
Solution :
  • Please ensure that the mains power has been connected and made operational.
  • Please check that all relevant circuits are switched to on within the mains consumer unit.
  • Please check the fuse in the fused spur supplying the macerator.
  • The macerator is designed to discharge faeces, toilet paper and hot water (upto 100C) only.
  • A blockage can be caused when foreign objects are flushed down the toilet with the most common being paper towels.
  • In general such blockages can easily be removed after which the toilet and macerator will work as normal.
  • Switch off the fused spur supplying the macerator, unscrew the knob on the side of the macerator and remove the extractable unit in order to gain access to the blocked filters.
  • When the blockage has been removed, the unit can be re-assembled by replacing the extractable unit and screwing back the knob.
  • When the fused spur is switched on again the unit should work as normal.

Problem : The water from the Santon Over Sink Water Heater is not hot.
Solution :
  • Please ensure that the mains power has been connected and made operational.
  • Please check that all relevant circuits are switched to on within the mains consumer unit.
  • Please check the fuse in the fused spur supplying the water heater.
  • If the unit still does not respond then it may be that the thermal safety cut out may have operated as a safety measure.
  • The cut-off is designed to prevent the heater from overheating and suffering damage when there is little or no water in the heater.
  • Current models have a resettable thermal switch which can be reset by switching off the fused spur, removing the access panel at the bottom of the unit and depressing the small red button on the blue panel.
  • Older models will require a replacement thermal fuse to be fitted.

Problem : A high level fan heater is not working.
Solution :
  • Please ensure that the mains power has been connected and made operational.
  • Please check that all relevant circuits are switched to on within the mains consumer unit.
  • Please check the fuse in the fused spur supplying the fan heater.
  • Please check that the heater is switched on and check any timers if relevant.
  • If the heater still does not respond then it may have overheated and the thermal safety cut out may have operated.
  • Firstly, remove any items which could be blocking the air flow to and from the unit and thus causing it to overheat.
  • Then turn off the electrical supply at the fused spur, remove the fuse and leave for 10 minutes.
  • When the unit has cooled sufficiently, the fuse should be replaced, the fused spur switched back on and the heater switched to on.
  • The adjustable thermostat may also require adjustment to avoid future overheating.

Problem : A convector heater is not working.
Solution :
  • Please ensure that the mains power has been connected and made operational.
  • Please check that all relevant circuits are switched to on within the mains consumer unit.
  • Please check the fuse in the fused spur supplying the convector heater.
  • Please check that the heater is switched on and check any timers if relevant.
