Maintenance

All Alsim products are designed to meet the needs and expectations of our clients and are manufactured with care by a dedicated team of craftsmen using high quality materials and advanced production techniques.
Maintenance can take the form of planned preventative actions or reactive work associated with the repair or replacement of items damaged or worn out in use.

Planned Preventative Maintenance
As with all assets, correct usage in line with the manufacturer’s instructions and a program of regular maintenance will ensure that the product continues to function correctly, meets your ongoing requirements and maximises your return on investment.
As noted in the following entries, all finishes and components should be regularly checked and any damage should be suitably repaired. Failure to identify and properly repair damage to any area of the item may cause danger and will impact on the long term performance of the product and the ultimate useful life.
The following items are for guidance purposes only and the frequency of inspections and associate maintenance programs and service works should be adjusted in cases of unusual or heavy use and where the location or operating environment presents excessive challenges to the product.

Electrical Installation

Any components which malfunction or become damaged should be isolated from use until they have been repaired or replaced as appropriate by a suitably qualified person.

The installation should be tested and inspected on an annual basis and whenever the unit is relocated.

An Earth Loop Impedance Test should be carried out when the unit is sited and the result checked for compliance with BS7671 2001.

This electrical installation on every product is tested and inspected at the time of manufacture.

Convector Heater

If the convector heater overheats, the thermal safety cut out is likely to operate. Please view the relevant information in the troubleshooting section for further information on bringing the unit back into operation.

Under no circumstances should clothes or other such items be dried close to, hung over or placed on top of a convector heater since these would also constitute a fire risk.

The vents on our range of convector heaters must not be obstructed in any way. Obstructions are likely to cause the unit to over heat and malfunction and could be a fire risk.

Fan Heater

If the fan heater overheats, the thermal safety cut out is likely to operate. Please view the relevant information in the troubleshooting section for further information on bringing the unit back into operation.

Under no circumstances should clothes or other such items be hung immediately under or placed on top of a fan heater since these would also constitute a fire risk.

The vents on our range of high level fan heaters must not be obstructed in any way. Obstructions are likely to cause the unit to over heat and malfunction and could be a fire risk.

Water Heater

Alsim has fitted resettable Santon A7 storage water heaters since mid 2006 in the majority of products. These water heaters can be reset in the event of a fault but older models will require a replacement part. Please view the relevant information in the troubleshooting section for further information on bringing the device back into operation.

All water heaters must be fully charged with water prior to electrical connection in order to avoid damage to the heating element.

Frost Protection

All plumbing installations should be suitably protected from the effects of the weather with anti-frost heating. It is important that this heating is operational during all periods of cold weather in order to avoid potential damage to the product.
